A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to go on a girls trip with some friends. It was a nice getaway to just relax & have a worry free weekend. It was my first time visiting Charleston & it certainly did not disappoint! I’ve been wanting to explore the city for some time now so when we were making a decision on where to go Charleston had to be on the list. I was so thrilled when we made the final decision & were planning for our Charleston, SC getaway!
Downtown Charleston, South Carolina
As a photographer I tend to notice places that are cohesive with the style of photography that I have. This city literally has beautiful picturesque locations on just about every corner. The architecture alone tends to be beautiful & captivating. There is no shortage of things to do & places to visit while you’re there. One of my favorites is the infamous Rainbow Row. It’s simply a row of buildings that are connected & painted in beautiful rainbow colors. Even as simple as that is it’s unique & a must see if you’re in the city.
Charleston is known as “The Holy City” for it’s religious freedom it offered before many long ago. Holding a certain European vibe, many of the historic streets are still cobblestone. Which is so very charming to me! Along the streets you can find an endless supply of cafes, restaurants shopping & much more but do be prepared for challenging parking. Parking then walking or biking is simpler than trying to park at every location you’d like to visit when you’re down town. Also be prepared to pay for the parking.
One other favorite I’d like to mention is the La Pâtisserie, a french pastry shop that is located in Hotel Bennett. Serving traditional french pastries & amazing coffee you’ll feel like you stepped into a European cafe. Needless to say I’ll definitely be returning when I’m back in Charleston.
For this trip I only brought along my film camera, it was fun & definitely upped the anticipation waiting for the images to return from the lab. I wished I could have documented a few more of our experiences but it’ll give me a reason to go back again soon!
Another beautiful location near Charleston is Forsyth Park in Savanah, GA. I had the opportunity to do an editorial earlier in the year, you can check that out here. / Film Lab: Indie Film Lab
