UGA North Campus Engagement Session

Meeting Caroline & Jacob for their UGA North Campus engagement session back in the fall was wonderful! It was a cool afternoon, the campus was calm & so lovely to explore. Having both went to school at UGA this was the perfect location to document such a beautiful time in life, in a place they already had a connection with. Below they have been so generous to share a few words about their lives!

UGA North Campus Engagement Session UGA North Campus Engagement SessionSavannah is definitely our favorite city to go to! It’s a great place to take walks with plenty of beautiful parks which is our favorite thing to do on dates. That combined with the coffee shops, the beautiful scenery, and (for Caroline) makes it the perfect place for us to go on trips – as long as it’s not in the summer that is haha. Back home, we both love going to coffee shops and exploring different parks and trails to walk on. We’ve had a lot of dates in Downtown Woodstock and like spending time there so much we are planning to live there once we get married. In Athens we love most of the restaurants, the botanical gardens, and of course all the coffee shops there!

UGA North Campus Engagement Session UGA North Campus Engagement Session UGA North Campus Engagement SessionHow did you two first meet? High school, we both went to middle and high school together, but never really talked until near the end of senior year. Jacob’s sister was in color-guard with Caroline and convinced Jacob to ask her to prom. Jacob did and the rest was history! We both ended up going to UGA together for college, so the red and black definitely runs through our blood! After finishing at UGA, Jacob moved to midtown Atlanta and then Oxford, Alabama with Georgia Pacific as an engineer. Meanwhile, Caroline started nursing school at Augusta University in Athens. It was hard being apart for so long but we made it work! This lasted two years and then Jacob moved back to our hometown of Canton, GA to start another engineering job at an environmental engineering firm. Caroline moved back home as well after finishing nursing school in May of 2021 and just started her job at Northside Cherokee on the cardiac unit. We’ve been together for 6 years and they have all been wonderful. We are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together! We got engaged on March 13, 2021 in the Botanical Gardens in Athens, Georgia close to UGA’s campus. We spent the morning walking on UGA’s campus and in local parks. Then we ate lunch at one of our favorite restaurants in Athens (DePalmas) before going to take a walk in the Botanical Gardens, which was one of our favorite date spots while we were students at UGA. After a short (and very fast-paced due to Jacob’s nervousness) walk, we sat down on a park bench and Jacob handed Caroline a printed copy of what we call “The List.” It is is basically a bucket list of things we want to do together that we made at the start of our relationship and have been adding to ever since. We periodically sit down and cross off the items we’ve done and add new ideas whenever we come up with new things. For this occasion, Jacob had taken the list of everything we had done together and put it into a trifold pamphlet. The last line on the list was “Get Engaged” with an empty check box next to it, and below this was “Caroline, will you marry me?” When Caroline got to the last line she looked up and Jacob was on one knee with the ring in his hand. Caroline cried a lot during this time! Luckily, to capture the moment, Jacob’s sister was right there able to take pictures since she goes to UGA!UGA North Campus Engagement Session UGA North Campus Engagement Session UGA North Campus Engagement SessionTell us the proposal story.
